Frequently Asked Questions

Your FAQs answered: why Format is the ultimate design productivity tool to give confidence and empower your entire team to create consistent, on-brand content at scale.

Product Overview

What does Format do?

Format is your productivity partner for creating video and graphics at scale. Think of it as a design tool that helps teams pump out high-volume, pixel-perfect assets that stay perfectly on-brand – and fast. Whether you’re dealing with a massive campaign or need to react to something happening in real-time, Format gives everyone on your team the ability to create professional content without bottlenecking your designers.

What makes Format different from other tools?

The game-changer is our locked-in templates. What this means is that anyone on your team – not just designers – can jump in and create graphics, but they can’t go off-brand. The templates are built by designers, matching your designs pixel-for-pixel and with flexible and responsive guardrails put in place. There’s no risk of someone accidentally using the wrong font or messing up the brand guidelines. This frees up your actual designers to focus on the creative, strategic work instead of churning out social posts or campaign variations all day.

Who can use Format?

Anyone. That’s the whole point – non-designers can create professional assets that look like they came from your design team. While designers can use it to be more efficient by reducing the time it takes them to create content by 90% on average.

What’s Format’s biggest benefit when it comes to creating content?

The confidence and speed you get when scaling content. Most teams either sacrifice quality for speed, or they bottleneck everything through their design team and things move slowly. With Format, you get both – your whole team can move fast and produce consistent, professional content without your designers having to worry about brand integrity. It’s like having an extension of your design team constantly on call and with no-danger of burnout.

Justification & Value

How does pricing work?

Setup cost is based on the number of Formats you’d like in your team and thereafter there’s a subscription cost which is predominantly based on downloads. We don’t charge per-seat because everyone just finds it annoying!

How can I justify the cost? It’s a lot more expensive than other tools, like Canva, for example.

Tools like Canva actually cost you more in hidden time. When someone creates something that goes off-brand, your designer has to fix it or often recreate the whole thing. Format eliminates that entirely because our locked-in templates mean mistakes like that can’t happen. The cost might be more upfront, but you get your designers’ time back to do actual creative work instead of corrections and revisions.

Could this tool replace my design team altogether?

Format isn’t about replacing designers – it’s about making them more valuable and letting your whole team move faster with confidence, and without all the back and forth.

Technical Capabilities

What integrations do you have?

We have various integrations with media libraries, data sources and AI plugins to make it easier for you to create rich and complex graphics quickly and accurately – and are regularly adding more. For instance you can use Getty Images with preview-before-purchase and Unsplash; we plugin to sports data sources like CricViz and have various design productivity assistance tools such as background removal, translation, image enhancement and more.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes – fully responsive. It’s a browser based app so you can use it on any device, wherever you are.

Can you handle multiple aspect ratios?

Yes – your Formats are set up to export in any aspect ratio you want. Whether that’s 3:4 for social feeds or 9:16 for stories. You can export for MPUs, 4k screens and even 5 pixels by 10,000 pixels if you really want…

What file formats can you export in?

Any! We typically export PNGs and MP4s for digital use – but we have examples across our clients where we’re exporting in 4k for huge screens and PDFs to send Format-created assets off to print.

What about bulk creation?

You can upload a CSV with the information to populate your content – a new row is a new asset. Go from spending hours if not days creating hundreds of assets to doing it in seconds – great for conference badges, artists announcement assets for music festivals, fixtures – anything with repetitive data.

Does it handle video?

Yes – video templates with overlay graphics, thumbnails, branded video content. Can add names, stats, logos over video and anything else you like.

User Experience

How long does asset creation take?

Minutes instead of hours. What takes 30 minutes in Photoshop becomes a two-minute task. It can be 90% faster than traditional workflows.

What if content doesn’t fit?

We have guardrails in place to auto-rebalance text combined with dynamic font sizing, character limits with warnings. Text and content will always scale to match.

Can teams save and reuse content?

We have a media locker across teams which can be reused across templates, a save function for drafts, duplicate function for variations.

How do you prevent brand mistakes?

We have robust built-in guardrails for every Format – correct logo placement locked, brand colours protected, sponsor elements default to ‘on’ so they can’t be forgotten and many, many more to make avoidable, common mistakes things of the past.

Strategic Value

What types of content work best?

Anything repetitive – team sheets, results, news graphics, digital ads, winner announcements. If you’re making the same design with different data, it’s perfect.

How does this help with sponsors and partners?

Logos become default elements which can’t be removed rather than things you need to remember to add. You can also make Format available to your partners so they can create co-branded content which they don’t need to constantly approve with you because you can trust it’ll always be on brand. All helping to guarantee consistent brand exposure.

What’s the biggest business benefit?

Removes designer bottlenecks while maintaining brand quality. Teams become self-sufficient for routine content, designers focus on premium work.
